Fall Baking Kick-Off: Win a KitchenAid Stand Mixer
Last weekend, we hosted our annual pie social and over sixty of our friends showed up on a rainy Saturday afternoon.
Guests who love to bake came bearing pies of all kinds, until my table was filled with fifteen homemade creations. Some were bursting with local fruits such as blueberries, apples, pears and raspberries, as well as rhubarb. Others featured nuts like pecans or coconut, and a towering Banoffee pie held sliced bananas under a mountain of whipped cream.
We had classic pumpkin pie, too, as well as a huge pot of hot spiced apple cider to accompany the desserts. It was an afternoon to remember.
Surveying the spread, one thing was apparent: my friends are as excited for fall baking as I am.
Maybe we’re psyched about baking because we can turn the oven on without heating up the whole house, or perhaps it is because we’ve finally settled into a fall routine. My recent flurry of baking was brought on by a string of rainy, grey days that inspired pumpkin spice muffins, chewy oatmeal cookies and apple pie. You know, the classics.
Whether you are a pie maker, cookie shaper or cake baker, there’s something about this time of year that urges us to pull out the butter, spices, sugar and flour and get to work. And while a mountain of dirty dishes can’t be helped, there is one kitchen workhorse that helps make fall baking much easier: the KitchenAid stand mixer.
The KitchenAid Artisan Series 5-Quart Tilt-Head Stand Mixer has a 5-qt Stainless Steel bowl with handle and 10 different speeds, which means whipping cream to stiff peaks and smashing butter and sugar into fluffy mounds is just the beginning of the mixer’s prowess. I mix up all my pie crusts with the paddle attachment (here’s the tutorial) and knead the dough for my whole wheat buttermilk dinner rolls with the dough hook.
When I prepare my Winter Fruits Pavlova, the egg whites are carefully whipped to perfection with the whisk attachment. And the After School Gingerbread Project would be a chore without the mixer to beat our Royal icing into peaks.
I hope you are feeling lucky, because my friends at KitchenAid Canada wish to gift one of my Canadian readers with their very own Artisan® Series Tilt-Head Stand Mixer!
(American readers, I do apologize that this is a Canadian exclusive, but I must remind you that my last giveaway was also a KA stand mixer, and it excluded Canadians. So it’s only fair! )
And that’s not all! Because I just launched a cookbook, because you are the best readers on the planet, we’re also giving away the KitchenAid ® Ice Cream Maker Attachment! Homemade ice cream to accompany all that pie? Yes please.
I love to use this awesome attachment for my homemade ice cream and sorbet. It makes up to 2 quarts of fresh ice cream, sorbet and other frozen desserts in 20-30 minutes. It’s super easy to clean and I love that I don’t have to store a whole other small appliance.
Fall baking recipes
Before we get to the giveaway, let me give you a few ideas of what you could bake up this fall. Here’s a sampling of seasonal sweets that are beloved by all and guaranteed to make your home smell incredible.

I love to bake bread, buns and loaves in the fall. And don’t forget whipping up a batch of chocolate chip cookies at 10pm on a cold Saturday night because your 17 year old asked you and you can 🙂
Fall baking is the best!
Anything pumpkin for me, especially oh-so-pretty bundt cakes! 🙂
Fall and apples are synonymous to me. Apple everything will make its way into my oven this fall. My favourite is a simple apple crisp; apples, butter, brown sugar and flour – that’s it. So delicious and easy to make. I’ve even made it gluten free by substituting rice flour for traditional wheat flour and it was equally as yummy!
I love to use pumpkin, pumpkin squares and pumpkin loaf!
When I think of Fall I think of Apples!
One of my favorites is an apple cake baked in a spring form pan.
And for a chilled dessert, a pumpkin cheesecake!
I love baking apple crisp and apple pie in the fall!
Pumpkin Loaf 🙂
I love to bake with apples
I agree! Fall is the time for baking! and tho my husband complains that I never bake pies just for him, only when company comes… I do love making pumpkin pie from scratch. Bringing the pumpkins in from the garden, “butchering” them on the dining room table, and making pie… and pumpkin bread… and pumpkin soup… and I have a recipe for a stew with pumpkin and chicken… It was quite a revelation on reading Alexander McCall Smith’s No.1 Ladies’ Detective Agency series, to realize how much pumpkin they grow and eat in Africa! I had no idea!
Fall for me means apples and pears baked in sweet or savoury form…maybe a pumpkin or squash added.
Deep dish candied apple pie is a family favorite
Yesterday I made pumpkin chocolate chip cookies for a 4H potluck and they were a hit! The plate was the first one empty!
My absolute fall favourite? Apple pie, of course!

My favourite thing to bake in the fall is mixed berry pie. My wife LOVES pie and I really like that the mixed berries provide a bit of variety so you get a slightly different flavour with each bite.
My favourite fall baking involves any type of Bundt cake (extra points for anything spiced!)
It’s a tough choice of course, but my favourite thing to bake in the fall is PROBABLY my Swedish Apple Cake. I developed the recipe last year (after much research and tinkering) and I fell in love with it entirely. Fingers crossed on the giveaway, because I could REALLY use a stand mixer! 😀
My favourite thing to bake in the fall is buns and also apple & pear pie. ??
I love the multiple pie slice plate pic!
I enjoy baking stews for fall. Planing some with mustard and lemon and another with cranberries and tart apples.
It has to be about all the preserves and purées that one can make at this time of the year. My favourite is purchasing the sugar pumpkins ? from our local farmer and turning them into all that lovely smooth purée needed for Thanksgiving pies, cookies and muffins. I freeze it and then enjoy all winter long.
My favourite thing to bake are my Aunt Shirley’s Ginger-Molasses Cookies.
Can’t wait to try some recipes from your new cookbook, which I love.
I like an apple coffee cake. my mother worked out the recipe and adjusted it just right for our taste, YUM and healthy

My favorite fall meal is a onion soup made with stout beer topped with bread and old cheddar and finish with a sweet apple crisp as dessert. Love to cook confort food in this cold weather!

My kids favorite thing for me to make probably isn’t even considered real baking….but the classic peach dump cake on a cold night is their absolute favorite. My favorite is wheat rolls, warm with butter dripping down my arm. 🙂
The smell of a big pot of soup after a long walk on a crispy day is the best. Miam!
I love to bake French style apple tarte and as simple as these cookies are, my go to are peanut butter and chocolate chip ! So simple but so yummy!
Apple Crisp, is a Fall favourite around here. And since I love collecting and trying out different recipes, I never make the same one twice!
I love getting back into the kitchen after summer ends. It makes knowing winter is coming so much better. (I live in a tiny condo without AC, so baking in the summer is impossible.) I’d love to win a KitchenAid mixer so I can whip up some pie crusts. (I’ve heard that stand mixers make pulling together a homemade pie crust a dream!) And I would make peach pie filling for that lovely crust 😉
Pumpkin pie, apple pie, but Apple Crisp is my go-to dessert!
Anything pumpkin or apple! And soups, stews, breads. Cabbage rolls and lasagne for now of the freezer. Fall is nesting time for me.
Thank you for the opportunity to win this awesome Mixer. Fall brings Apple and pumpkin pie and spice cake.
