Seven Things You Never Knew About Me

Smoked Salmon and Cucumber Sushi…it’s all part of the post-partum plan

Having recently been tagged for separate memes by Recipe Girl and Warda, I decided to combine them and share with you 7 things you don’t know about me.

It wasn’t easy to pick as there is a LOT of history in my 29 years, but nevertheless here they are: a few personal items, a few superficial and a few confessions…

1. I have an awesome post-partum plan.
It involves a chilled bottle of wine, two Robaxicet muscle relaxants, a small mountain of sushi, and a hot tub under the winter stars. It’s going to be great.
2. I grew up as a country girl
Yup. In rural Yukon Territories (Canada) with no telephone, running water, or electricity. For some reason, this seems to surprise people about me.
Best. Childhood. Ever.
3. I demand top quality ingredients for cooking, yet have no problem shopping for everything else second hand.
Weird, eh? Oh, and I have a thing for garage sales. Go figure.
4. Bono held my hand and sang to me during U2’s Elevation tour.
My rock and roll claim to fame. He was a bit scary up that close. I’m more of a The Edge kind of girl.
5. I have a crush on Anthony Bourdain.
But seriously, is there a girl out there who doesn’t? Sigh.
6. I would rather spend a day carving up the slopes on my snowboard
than relaxing at the spa, shopping the boutiques or sitting at the bar. Sadly those opportunities to board are few and far between.
7. I used to be afraid of meeting a bear in the woods on my own
-until I did. Twice. Obviously, I survived.

So this being my first meme, I hope I am correct in tagging five other bloggers…
They are:
Tammy of Love it/Hate it
Emeline of Cochonet Rouge
Lyb of And then I do the dishes
Amber of Ambercita
Marie of Marie Cooks Britain

  1. Yep – I am with you on many of those points – not sure about the ‘meeting the bears in the woods’ bit – but dig Antony B and also very fussy about what I cook and eat but 90% of everything I own came from a street market or a garage sale too. Loving the post-partum plan!

  2. I was just thinking about this the other day. People are so surprised about the fact that we were raised sans power or that we were homeschooled…really I have amazing childhood memories

  3. My post-partum plan looks eerily like yours. Balnea, here I come! Perhaps the only other thing I’ve added is a mountain of soft unpasturised cheeses and some serrano ham. But alas, it’ll be another 16 or so weeks until I can enjoy these pleasures.

Speaking of which, it would be great to see a post about how the food-lover eats while pregnant.

  4. Hi Recipe girl- Oh, I got stories, all right! Thanks for tagging me…

Hi Lynda- Glad you can relate. Street markets are the best!

Hi Lynn- If I only had as much time as I liked to write…I’ve got the material.

    Hi Miranda- Yup, good times.

Hi milliner- Oh yes, a full on wine and cheese is in the works, too!

  5. Great MeMe Amy…great minds think alike.. I have a photo up of sushi today as well:D I have also met many bear in the woods especially up near Jasper…not wanting to meet a cougar 🙁

  6. Your “after baby party” sounds like a lot of fun. Your childhood must’ve had been a memorable one. Thank God nothing happened to you when Bono sang to you; I mean when you met a bear 😉

  7. Funny how we miss so much food related stuff during pregnancy! For me it was the wine; we joked around that we should bring a bottle to the hospital to drink right after the birth! It would have been funny to see the nurses reactions!

  8. So very interesting, Aimée! It’s always fun to read, these MeMe. Your post-partum plan sounds good… it’s coming up soon, isn’t it?

  9. Hi. Popped over from “Everybody Likes Sandwiches”. That sushi platter looks awesome!!!! Good luck with the plan!

  10. This is what I have been searching in many websites and I finally found it here. Amazing article. I am so impressed. Could never think of such a thing is possible with it…I think you have a great knowledge especially while dealings with such subjects.
Really diet is very much nutritious during pregnancy.
