Giveaway: All the Weck Jars (really, all of them)

I get asked a lot of questions from readers about ingredients, techniques, and tools of the trade, but Weck jars make the top of the list for the most inquiries.

Made in Germany and distributed in North America by WeckJars.com, these pretty vessels are used in a dozen different ways in my kitchen. They are frequently featured in my Instagram feed and on the blog, which usually results in a flurry of questions about sourcing the jars.

Today I’m very excited to offer a giveaway sponsored by WeckJars.com. The winner will receive two of every single Weck jar available! That’s a total of 52 beautiful jars, in every shape and size.

Now one can hardly write a cookbook titled Brown Eggs and Jam Jars without obsessing somewhat over jars. I own hundreds, vintage and new, and they are used daily in my kitchen.

I can jams and jellies with Weck jars, stuff them with pickles and store my pantry ingredients in them, too. Salads to go? Weck’s 3/4 L Mold jars come in very handy for layered salads.

Today’s post showcases a handful of recipes from my cookbook that feature Weck jars. If you’ve already bought the book, you can bookmark these recipes to make, perhaps with a few jars of your own.

Above? My Rosy Grapefruit and Pomegranate Spritzers, presented in the oh-so-versatile 1/4 L Cylindrical jar, served out of the 1L juice jar.

My refrigerator occasionally shows up in my Instagram feed and even has its own hashtag, #simplebitesrefrigerator. It seemed only right to include a fridge shot in the cookbook too!

This image is from the chapter on Pantry Staples and features my Homestead Homemade Yogourt in Weck’s Mold jars. Also pictured, Strawberry Honey Jam and Quick Marinated Golden Beets, both in beautiful Tulip jars.

When one has access to fresh eggs as I do most of the year, homemade mayonnaise is a must for sandwiches, dips, and creamy salad dressings. I store mine in Weck jars of all sizes; above is the 1/2 L Tulip jar.

All Weck jars can also be accessorized with plastic Keep Fresh Covers for refrigerator storage. They are handy for easy access to pickles, applesauce and condiments like the mayo above.

But Weck jars are truly best for are canning all that is fresh and delicious in summer! I like their wide mouth jars that are easy to fill, and I stuff them with stone fruits like my Peaches Preserved in Honey Syrup.

WeckJars.com has a whole section of canning notes that are helpful for beginners. Be prepared to fall in love with their selection of canning jars.

  1. oh, weck jars are so very pretty… and the 1/4 l juice jar is adorable. i actually got upset once at a store where they were selling candles in weck jars – why? why not use them for canning beautiful fruit and veg?

  2. I like the 1L juice jar to keep water in the fridge, great shape and not too cumbersome so it won’t be dropped by little people.

  3. I think the Mini Mold Jars are my favorite — I like the slight flare of the mouth because it’s cute and also would make filling them easier while canning!

  4. I’m loving the round, globe-y deco jars, especially the 902 1/5L mini ones. would be so pretty on a brunch table full of jellies

  5. I like the 976 mini mold jar. It looks perfect for canning condiments or making single-serving desserts. All the jars look like they are multi-purpose though because they’re so simple and pretty.

  6. I love the look of all the Weck jars but my particular favorite is the 1/5 L short Mold Jars. I see endless possibilities with these from preserves to pantry storage. Simple yet effective design!
I actually purchased 2 cases while I was visiting the site. I can’t wait to get them and start using them!

  7. I really love the mold jars. Perfect for the little things like yogurt, humus etc
I love the tulip jars, too! So unique and really take a jar of jam to the next level in terms of presentation. Well to be honest. I love them all. 🙂

  8. Those Tulip jars are a mad favorite. They just cry out to be filled with lush fruit. Was looking at an apricot recipe just yesterday they would be perfect for. Crossing my fingers.

  9. From a practical perspective, my favorite “most used” Weck jar is the ever-stackable 742 – 1/2 L Mold Jar, as this size and shape is my go-to for everything from preparing and storing cold oatmeal breakfasts to storing “serving size” home made croutons for family dinner salads. But from an aesthetic view, the 762 – 1/5 Jelly Jar is so pretty … charming even. The shape and size is rustic — it is easy to imagine a lovely breakfast of hot oatmeal surrounded by these little jars filled with honey, jams and yogurt accouterments. What a lovely giveaway offer, btw! A jar for every week of the year!

  10. I’ve never worked w/ Weck Jars before, but I’m really interested in trying them out. I love the look of the Tulip Jars.

  11. I love the mini Weck jars! It would be a tie between the smallest, 2.7 oz, mini mold jar and the 1/5 L Deco jar. They are so pretty!

  12. Oh my! These jars are beautiful. I think the tulip style are amazing! Maybe the 2 1/2 L would be versatile. But ALL of them would be unbelievable!

  13. Oh my goodness! The Weck Jars are so beautiful! I think that granola and other cereals would look so appetizing if stored in one of the Juice Jars :-), the 10 lb bags of rice would store nicely in the 1L Deco and the 1.5 L Cylindrical jars. As for the Tulip Jars – they look so amazing! I want to make a whole meal and use the Tulip Jars for serving instead of serving on plates …. that would be so much fun (and very challenging)!

  14. It’s so hard to choose! I think I’d have to say the deco jars because I remember my mom canning pickled peppers in them when I was a kid and they just looked so pretty!

  15. Never heard of WEck jars til I read your blog….the tulip jars are very pretty and anything in them would look great. Thanks for the opportunity to win!

  16. The mini molds would be great for all the new foods I’ve been making for my 10 month old daughter and I can see using them for fun arts and crafts projects in the future. I can also imagine many a use for the cylindrical jars for my home office and pantry…Space is tight in a NYC apartment so all items we have must have multiple uses 😉

  17. I love the mini jars. They would look so pretty lined up on a shelf in my office filled with paper clips, rubber bands, etc. I also love the juice jars. Perfect for ice tea that my kids can easily handle instead of my large pitcher. No more hearing “Mom can you get me some tea” 🙂

  18. Love WECK jars. I have been known to purchase them filled, not caring for what was inside them but for the jar itself! That is how I acquired 3 of the 1/5 l Deco jars, my fav.
