Apron Giveaway Winner and a Cookie Decorating Photo Essay

I’m a proud mama and it shows! I’m making you sit through a few photos I snapped during my first Christmas cookie decorating session with Noah, before I give you the winner to my apron giveaway. At the ripe old age of three, my eldest is learning that a few of life’s simple pleasures are sugar cookies, icing and sprinkles. He did a great job of decorating–he was so concentrated on his efforts! I considered handing him the pastry bag that I was working with, but we’ll wait until he is four.

Here’s what I was working on…wedding favors for my mother-in-law’s December wedding. Busy, busy times!

Thanks for being so patient.
And now, the winner of my handmade, hand embroidered vintage-style apron IS….

Congratulations to Lynn and a big thank you to all who left comments. You rock!

  1. Crap. I wanted that apron.

What a fun cookie-making session! I love the pictures. Your new camera is awesome.

The cookie swap was okay. It was kind of short. We just stood up, told what we made, then passed them around.

  2. Ooooh, I’m so excited! Thank you, thank you!

Your cookies look just gorgeous. You sure have a steady hand with the pastry bag.

Adorable pictures of Noah. You can tell he knows his way around a cookie, too.

  3. Congrats to Cookie Baker Lynn!

  4. Triple crap on not winning the apron, but I am sure that Lynn will give it a a good home 🙂

I love your snow flakes. They are amazing. Every year I think that perhaps it will be the year that I will attempt snow flakes, and every year I settle for ginger snaps. Maybe this will be the year.

I love the pictures of Noah. He does look so intent on what he is doing. Thankfully you have that amazing new camera to capture the moment.
    Happy Holidays

  5. Hi Emily- Sorry about the apron, that’s just how things went down. Cookie decorating was fun, bu a disaster for my kitchen floors.

Hi Cara- I know! I was expecting the worse, but he just licked his fingers a few times. Ok, a lot.
It’s an effort to MAKE the time, projects like this would never happen if I waited til I found the time. I don’t watch TV either, so I have lots of evenings.

Hi Lynn- Thanks! I couldn’t believe it was you! KArma, I guess, eh? Since I just won the cookbook from you.

Hi Ingrid- I’ll pass on the accolades to Noah. Thanks.:)

Hi MAria- I have the Canon EOS Rebel xsi. I’m really still getting used to it, but one of my favorite things so far is that it is SO light! I love it. It’s like my third child. 🙂

Hi Culinarywannabe- He’s pretty coordinated, so should do well!

Hi Claudia- What could be more fun around the holidays than decorating cookies? I think we’ll do gingerbread next.

  6. Cute. I love to decorate cookies w/ my kiddo. They’ll remember this kind of stuff forever.

I love how you did the white on white decor. Neat idea for favors for a Dec. wedding!

  7. This is one of the many reasons I’m getting excited to have my baby – although it will be a little while until she is old enough to really get into cookie decorating! And those cookies of yours are absolutely gorgeous.

  8. Hi Lydia- He’s the best.

Hi Sadaf- For some weird reason, I find the detail work relaxing!

Hi Val- Supermom, I always say that’s what you are!!

    Hi Miranda- Thanks, Sweetie.

Hi Amanda- Many thanks! I’m glad I have it documented.

    Hi a dozen eggs- Merci!

Hi Shayne- I used Martha Stewart’s recipe for royal icing. It doesn’t taste great, but I needed something that would dry very hard and be durable.

Hi Deb- I didn’t know you were having a girl!! Congrats!!
